(L) A yearling elk, wearing a radio collar, is one of more than 1,300 that make their home in Pigeon River Country State Forest in northern lower Michigan. The headquarters (R), built after a fire destroyed the original building in 1985, is about 13 miles east of Vanderbilt and is a great place to stop for maps and information. |
